- 2008 FENDER HIGHWAY ONE STRATOCASTER HSS SERIES
Especially the High E and you'll be fine. But you have to pick a winner and like the Big headstocks and Jumbo frets.I DO! Pay close attention to the String path and the real estate on both outside of the Low and High E strings. I could wash it down with Napha, shoot it with Nitro Black and Clear and it would look just like a New Blackie Clapton only NITRO. But with Tex-Mex and Diamond humbuckers SUCK in it.īTW with the shape my body is in.MINT. Great feeling and playing Strat, litte HEAVY IMO. MOF the fellows coming over to jam with me tonight. And the pre 2008 fender trem blocks are junk.Īs I said theres a MINT Mahogany Special right here. I still have a few Standards and American Series. IMHO these are closest to the pre 70 Fender Strats.
2008 FENDER HIGHWAY ONE STRATOCASTER HSS SERIES
I have owned dozens of American Standard and American Series Stratocasters.
Last night I was offered an even up trade for a MIA Mahonany Special you know Red with Black headstock S-1 switching? But they come with Tex-Mex pups, and Diamond Humbucker.ALL TRASH. I see no difference in CTS pots on my MIA Standard/Deluxe. I added the Black multi-ply Black PG which I cut to a perfect fit so there was no need to drill any extra holes. I added Black Roller String Trees, and Black Schaller Strap Locks. Being my Strat was a SSH the Tone is already wired to the Bridge. Its single coil tones sounds EXACTLY like a Tele Bridge single coil. I added a CS-69 Fender pup in the neck, a 15ohm Rail humbucker in the bridge which is split. I would have loved to have taken a Sunburst but this Black had it all over both the SSH and SSS and the SSS Black? When the Fender shipment came in we went through all the Highway ones. BUT.I also handpicked this Strat with the Tech and Manager at Sam Ash both who are very close friends of mine. I bought a SKB Hard Shell Case and its Straight. MOF Fender uses it on Custom Shop Strats. The Greasbucket circuit IMHO is miles better than the delta tone. I also seriously like the MIddle position Alnico III stock pick-up. I like the large headstocks I started playing Strats in 1968? I Like the Jumbo frets. I added Great Saddles, Better Steel body screws, The PING TUNERS BLOW, I added Gotoh staggered Locking Tuners. First off I prefer the Original Vintage Trem as Boris mentioned above. I need to send Brad Traweek an email and try and find out why FMIC went back on what they were doing and stopped listing the "super" as the fretsize on this model. Neither of which is available on the Highway.įinally, many guys have a love hate relationship over the headstock size.īTW it was May/June 2005 when the Highway switched to big headstocks and from size 6100 (jumbo) to 6000 (super) fret sizes. Also, guys are fairly picky about which type of tremolo is chosen, and many Guys are pretty adamant about their preferences so a dollar for dollar comparo kinda breaks down. The HUGE (6000) super jumbo frets really make cross shopping the Highway against the Standard a non starter, IMO. If you choose a thin neck as these both models have, these may be necessary features over time. On closer examination has a little black push button near rear volume.Click to expand. The first thing I would mention is the Standard has a double action truss rod assembly and a micro tilt feature. I read somewhere the 2007 / 2008 Highway ones were different in some ways or is this a Roadhouse or Deluxe Strat or something else.
I don't want to remove the strings and take the scratch plate off as it has a few cracks and will probably fall to bits but it does look like the original finish. Also has Seymour Duncan pick ups but these could have been replaced by someone same as the bridge. Also I can't see any reference to the highway ones coming out in Shiny (Olympic?) white.they were all matt I thought. This one looks like the older Stainless saddle USA standard. I bought it as a Highway one HSS and it well maybe but the paint job and Stainless bridge has thrown me a bit? Highway ones came out with 6 screw bridge plates.

Serial number Z7 (2007) but neck pocket and neck stamped 2008 which I believe is normal.
